Pringle Bay is a picturesque seaside town situated between Betty’s Bay and Gordon’s Bay, in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. Nestled at the foot of the Hangklip Mountain, Pringle Bay forms part of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, boasting white sandy beaches and an abundance of exquisite fauna and flora. The town of Pringle Bay is named after Rear-Admiral Thomas Pringle of the Royal Navy, who commanded the naval station at the Cape in the late 1790s. It features immense natural beauty characterised by secluded beaches, a safe and friendly town, and a number of excellent restaurants and curio shops that make Pringle Bay well worth visiting. Pringle Bay features the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO heritage site which supports over 1600 species of fynbos (150 of which are endemic to the area). Pringle Bay and its surrounds are largely unspoilt, offering a natural environment inhabited by rich birdlife and wildlife. Birding enthusiasts will be in their element spotting the vivid sunbird, sugar bird, and the African Black Oystercatcher while in Pringle Bay. Other animals you can expect to see in Pringle Bay include the Cape Clawless Otter, African Penguin, flamingo, Egyptian goose, guinea fowl, and the Southern Right Whale between June and December each year.
