Lory Park Animal and Owl Sanctuary is a captivating zoo situated in Midrand, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. With over 130 different species of animals and birds, from herbivores and omnivores, to carnivores and birds of prey, Lory Park is well worth a visit.
Visitors to the park are encouraged to get up close and personal with some of the tamer animals in the zoo with hands-on encounters and pettings. Choose to enjoy baby ocelot and serval encounters (10h00 – 13h00; 14h00 – 16h00) or cheetah encounters throughout the day. Other animals you can expect to see here include Siberian tigers, Bengal tigers, cheetah, lynx, jaguar, lion, leopard, puma, dwarf mongoose, honey badger, and caracal. Don’t miss out on the reptile enclosures to spot reptiles such as the bearded dragon, snakes, green iguana, leopard tortoise, and Nile crocodile.
A lovely tea garden offers light lunches, snacks, and refreshments, while a jungle gym and animal petting play area will keep kids entertained for hours. Lory Park caters for school tours and is involved in a number of community outreach programs within the Midrand community.
