The Free State National Botanical Garden is a carefully landscaped and colourful garden on the outskirts of Bloemfontein. Spanning a valley between picturesque dolerite koppies, the garden features paved walkways, nature talks, and moonlight walks that make it a popular destination all year round. The 70 hectare garden boasts 400 species of plants and is a haven to 144 species of bird, 54 species of reptile, and about 32 species of mammal. 2. Vodacom Park

Oliewenhuis Art Museum is located in one of the most magnificent gardens in Bloemfontein. It is the only museum of its kind in the Free State and one of the youngest art museums in the country. Oliewenhuis is housed in a 1941 Neo-Dutch style mansion that was converted into an Art Museum in 1985, as a satellite of the National Museum. Explore the permanent collection of South African art, as well as temporary exhibitions in the Museum galleries and the unique underground Reservoir gallery. Other highlights include the Blind Alphabet and the functional Cement and Mosaic sculptures in the gardens.
