With the rain cascading down outside, it’s unlikely you’re going to be able to plan any outdoor activities for your kids. Following our Cape Town post, we have included a list of all the kid friendly activities you can enjoy in Durban this winter:

Durban Ice Rink

Durban Ice Rink, Stamford Hill

Take your kids to the Durban Ice Rink and watch them take off across the ice like a pro in no time. While you kids are enjoying themselves, you can sit back with a meal or cup of coffee from one of the various fast food outlets. Skates are available for hire and sale. Playgym Waffle Café, Warner Beach

Having recently opened its doors in 2012, the Playgym Waffle Café is not to be missed. First and foremost, a gourmet waffle café, it offers walls covered in art and 50% of its floor space covered with children’s play equipment. Dolphin Shows at Sea World

Sea World, uShaka Marine World

Granted, the water park is maybe not the best idea for winter, but the indoor aquarium is definitely a must for those with energetic young children. Sea World is the largest aquarium in the Southern Hemisphere and offers a fun day for all ages. Spend some quality time with your kids as you experience the dolphin shows, seal shows, penguin presentations, and more together. Sea World is open daily from 9am – 5pm. Contact 031 328 8000.

The Old Mutual-MTN ScienCentre, Umhlanga

For a fun and educational day out, take your kids to the ScienCentre at the Gateway Theatre of Shopping. This world class science centre makes science accessible to all in a fun and innovative way. With over a hundred interactive displays, a kids-only construction site, and a range of challenging puzzles, you’re promised an exciting day for all ages. The ScienCentre also offers holiday and weekend entertainment programmes. It is open Monday – Thursday from 09h00 – 19h00, Friday and Saturday from 09h00 – 21h00, and Sunday from 09h00 – 18h00. Exciting Rides at Mr Funtubbles

Mr Funtubbles Fabulous Family Funfair, Umhlanga

If the ScienCentre fails to entertain, Mr Funtubbles Fabulous Family Funfair is sure to do the trick! Also situated at Gateway Theatre of Shopping, the venue offers family friendly rides like the Family Swing, Junior Jet, Samba Balloon, and Speedway; a 4D Theater, and plenty other games and rides. Mr Funtubbles is open Monday – Thursday from 10h00 – 21h00, Friday and school holidays from 10h00 – 23h00, Saturday from 09h00 – 23h00, and on Sunday from 09h00 – 21h00. Contact 031 584 6645.

Adventure Golf at The Pavilion, Westville

Made up of three 9-hole courses, the Adventure Golf arena at The Pavilion Shopping Centre in Westville is the biggest indoor course in the world. The whole family can enjoy testing their skills at each of the course, which are all relatively easy to play. What’s more, each player will receive a 3-game ticket that can be used at any of the Adventure Golf courses in South Africa (including Brightwater Commons, Fourways Mall, Parkmeadows Centre, and Stoneridge Centre), so don’t worry if you didn’t get around to using all 3 – you can save them for another rainy day.
