"You cannot go to the Karooo without understanding its relevance and importance as a significant depository of early lifeforms, faithfully preserved in the Karoo's fossil record. Attending the outing from the Kitching Museum is a must for anyone - even with only a passing interest and knowledge of fossils and the important role The Great Karoo plays in showcasing these amazing early life forms - predating the early dinosaurs by at least 50 million years. Another visit which is recommended is the enlightening private talk and showcase of fossils in Ganora - a farm situated a short way out of town."
