"The municipality is a failure. The town is filthy and unkempt. This is sad given its place and history in the rich Vaalharts agricultural area."
"Very run down. Lots of potholes and the town isn't very pretty. The farms in the surrounding area are beautiful."
"Unfortunately there was a municipal strike while I was there so the town was strewn with litter. Otherwise it is a pleasant farming town. I visited the nearby Taung Dam which is spectacular. I watched rugby in the Baron's Galley Pub, which was great fun, lively and even got to play my guitar as a warm up for the Currie Cup semi finals. Was a great day in Hartswater. Also enjoyed visiting the Oranje Cellar's off sales for some Northern Cape wines. I recommend the Rooi Jeripico."
"Hartswater is a small town; it's very good for people who are from busy towns to visit, to renew their purpose and enjoy some relaxation. The only problem is that it lacks restaurant that one can go to and have nice meals at."
