"Maclear is a lovely old farming town, midway between Durban and PE, Grahamstown. Makes for a convenient stop-over. There was a restaurant open on the monday night for dinner if required."
"Excellent inexpensive butchery! Difficult to really comment due to the rain."
"We only stayed one night but loved it and the drive through was spectacular. Want to go back and explore the area some more."
"Unfortunately the evidence of poor municipal service management is palpable. Refuse lying on side of streets, no water after 8 am, potholes. Reminded me a lot of Blantyre in Malawi where we lived for a few years."
"Undiscovered South Africa. The ideal route when travelling from Cape town to Durban."
"Pragtige dorpie. Net ongemaklik wat die grondpaaie aanbetref het. Oulike en vriendelike mense."
"Town itself is just a rural Eastern Cape village, but the surroundings are beautiful. "
"The road's in Maclear and leading up to the accommodation, as with most Eastern Cape roads, are in need of repair."
