"Really cute little hamlet. Lots of trees and gravel streets. Drawback is the rather large numbers of unemployed people wandering about near shops trying to sell you odds and ends. Were warned that they may steal from house if door open etc. Also has a fairly large informal settlement. Not great either. "
"Rustige dorp, 'n paar vriendelike eetplekke, jammer dat by sommige bespreking nodig is.
"This village should be on every South African's travel bucket list - a wonderfully scenic place imbued with an underlying spiritual vibe."
"Pragtige dorpie.
"We didn't have the opportunity nor sufficient time to explore. What we did explore was well presented, clean, homely and warm."
Lieflik."
"Nieu Bethesda is off the beaten track and the last section of the road to get to the village is a bad corrugated dirt road. This was my first visit to Nieu Bethesda which is an interesting village. I would make sure beforehand which museums and places of interest are open and when, before booking accommodation, as not everything is open all day and every day. The information on their tourist website is out of date. Take enough cash as the crafters outside the Owl House sell their special creations there. All crafters were friendly, not pushy and very proud of their wares. A very poor community in dire need of tourists for upliftment."
"Very interesting and charming small town with very friendly people. It is well worth a visit. We stayed for 2 nights and I'd recommend staying a bit longer."
