"Suurbraak self is heelwat tussen niks en nêrens. Die naaste dorp met winkels is 25 km weg alhoewel die omringende dorpe lekker is soos Barrydale. Suurbraak is wel 'n baie mooi area met 'n paar mooi "getaway" plekke."
"An immensely beautiful and friendly little town, lush and quaint, with gorgeous hikes into the mountain forest!"
"Roads can do with an upgrade but other than that it was awesome super awesome."
"I would not visit there to holiday or to stop over. I visited in order to visit a friend who lives in Suurbraak but cannot accommodate a guest."
"Not much activities in the area but a great stay to be in nature or overnight while on a road trip."
"I did not go into the town on this visit, but have on previous visits to the area. It is a quaint town and worth just browsing through it."
"Ons was een nag in die omgewing. Om by enige besienswaardighede te kom moet jy bietjie ry. "
"Beautiful place, very green and also quiet. Lovely place to spend the long weekends braaing with family and friends."
"Pragtige natuurskoon. Stuifmeel vrystelling van fynbos kan sekere tye van die jaar problematies wees vir mense met allergieë."
"Lekker staproetes. Mooi dorpie. Brandgevaar moet verminder word deur uitdunning van uitheemse indringers. "
"Ons hou van hierdie ongeslypte eenvoudige juweel. Moenie vir te veel mense vertel van Suurbraak nie!"
"This is a beautiful, lush green little town! Should you ever consider buying property to get away to on weekends, I suggest buying in Suurbraak! "
"Of historical significance. So many heritage homes, although many are in need of restoration - it would be a shame if they were lost. The village is small and although it has a wonderful, rich history, it lacks a tourist information centre. There are, however, two national reserves (one is a world heritage site with rare and protected trees) within a short distance from the village, excellent mountain drives and walks/hikes, natural swimming areas and good cell phone reception. Perfect for nature lovers and anyone who wants to take a small step back in time and escape the noise and hub of town and city suburbia."
"The correct name of this historical village, !Xairu (a place called paradise), is a far more accurate description of the place. The trip into the village from Swellendam is a journey into a time warp and the mindful traveller will sense it immediately. The simple cottages from which locals wave to greet and welcome you is a telling sign that you are in for an experience of simplicity and community. The serenity of the village is filled with distant sounds of children playing in the streets and sights chimney smoke rising from wood ovens. Cows, horses and a variety of birds add to the ambience while the river provides a constant background hum. The clearly marked hiking trails which lead to all sorts of beautiful views and unspoiled resting places remind you that your stay is always going to be too short. "
