"Venterstad ... is one of many interesting little Free State towns, kept super clean and tidy. ... It's a lovely characterful place with lots of small animals on a Nature Reserve, along side a big dam. The dam was a tad dry when we visited it early spring in October, and the landscape gave little signs of spring from the indigenous plants... except for the heavenly Wisteria which were in bloom. If you go there for the right reasons (wide open spaces, peace and quiet, the beauty of the Karoo) it is a lovely spot."
