Description
El Yolo One is a working Karoo guest farm situated at the foot of the Swartberg mountain range in the Great Karoo. Our guests are able to come into close contact with a variety of farm animals such as turkeys, ducks, geese, peacocks and chickens. Please note that the route to El Yolo One includes a gravel road of approximately 30 km.
Accommodation includes a variety of rooms and chalets to choose from, and each unit features electric blankets, wall heaters, kettles, safety boxes. In addition, all rooms have a bathroom, swimming pool towels and complimentary wood for the fireplace and braai facilities. All rooms have spectacular views of the surrounding Swartberg Mountain range.
We also have camping sites available, each with a private bathroom, electricity and water.
Guests have a choice of self-catering or restaurant facilities. We mainly serve traditional Karoo farm meals. The restaurant kitchen can also be made available to larger groups in a self-catering capacity. We do have a Wedding/ Conference venue. It can accommodate up to 120 guests.
The area is a photographer's dream. You can view the spectacular Karoo night skies. We also allow bass fishing, rock climbing and mountain biking, provided you bring your own equipment. Swimming can be undertaken at the swimming pool next to the restaurant or in the farm dam.
We have tame and wild game such as eland, springbok, kudu and duiker and our bird life is extensive. Many wild and endangered flora have been spotted. We offer 4x4 routes for the experienced as well as the inexperienced. Hiking trails have been created for a more adventurous hiker or those who wish to take a casual walk. Fascinating Bushman rock paintings can be found in 3 different caves on the farm. Fossil spotting and unpolluted mountain streams and waterfalls are some of the unusual features of the farm.
Our climate is moderate in summer due to our proximity to the Swartberg, 1000 m above sea level. Some snowfalls can be expected in winter.
We have a jungle gym, farm animals to feed and much more to keep the young ones happy, while parents keep an eye from the restaurant patio.
