Kalahari Camelthorn Camping and Guesthouse is located in Askham and offers guests relaxing accommodation in a quiet environment under the shady trees with a variety of birds.
Guests can choose between 4 Camelthorn Camping sites that can accommodate a maximum of 6 guests and only 1 vehicle per pitch. Each pitch has its own braai facilities, water, electricity and designated ablution facilities. The extra pitch, number 5, is also available if ablution facilities are shared with friends camping together. Each of the sites is shaded and has its own lawn. There is a boma available so guests can make a fire under the Kalahari stars.
The Camelthorn Guesthouse consists of 2 units. Both have air conditioning and private en-suite bathrooms with showers, basins and toilets. There is also an outdoor kitchen and each unit has private braai facilities.
The Family Unit has 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a three-quarter bed. There is also an entrance hall with a fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities and a microwave oven. This unit has its own dining area with covered braai facilities for protection from the Kalahari sun in a tree-lined area.
Kalahari Unit 2 has a king-size bed that can be converted into 2 three-quarter beds upon request. The bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. The unit has a kitchenette equipped with the basic heating and eating facilities, as well as a small dining area. Covered braai facilities with an outdoor cooking and washing-up area are available. It is surrounded by shady trees.
Camelthorn wood, firelighters and ice are available for purchase on-site.
Daily cleaning services are available at extra cost. Guests must bring their own swimming towels.
Kalahari Camelthorn Camping and Guesthouse is fenced, so children can run and play safely.
Guests can go for a walk or ride around with their own bikes. Askham also has several mountain bike and 4x4 trails. The environment is ideal for sandboarding or frolicking in the Soutpan.
