Description
Magalies Wild Game Farm is situated in the old Magaliesburg Nature Reserve and offers a tranquil environment with an abundance of birdlife as well as game. The accommodation comprises 3 self-catering units made up of the Loerie Cottage, Sunflower Huts and the Leopard Bush Camp.
The Loerie Cottage is a double-story thatched cottage with 2 bedrooms, of which 1 has a double bed and the other has 2 single beds. The bedrooms are en-suite with a shower. Upstairs in the loft is a double sleeper couch as well as 2 stretchers. The open-plan living area includes a fully equipped kitchenette with a breakfast counter and a lounge area with full DStv. Outside is a carport and large private Lapa with braai facilities.
The Sunflower Huts comprise 2 wooden cabins, of which 1 has a double bed and the second has two single beds. The private bathroom is situated outside, undercover and includes a shower. The kitchen, dining and lounge area are enclosed with a canvas that can be rolled up to give an open-air feeling. Other features include DSTV, 2 carports as well as braai facilities.
The Leopard Bush Camp is set in the bush and is approximately 800 m from the main dwellings. The camp comprises 2 wooden cabins, of which 1 has a queen-size bed and the other 2 single beds. The bathroom and the kitchen are undercover. The unit has no power. However, there is a gas geyser, fridge/freezer and stove, solar lighting and a boma with a fire pit. The camp is surrounded by natural bushveld where the game may be seen regularly. There is also a two-person rooftop tent mounted on a stand above the ground for your adventurous teens to stay in.
All units have fenced areas for pets.
Activities available on the game farm include a swimming pool in the bush with a beautiful view, bird- and game-watching, game drives, mountain biking trails, hiking trails, and sunset viewing areas. Game on the farm includes blesbok, impala, kudu, zebra, ostriches, grey duikers, warthogs, as well as night prowlers such as porcupines and honey badgers, serval cats and jackals.
The game farm is conveniently situated for day trips to Maropeng, Pilanesberg, Rhino and Lion Park, Sterkfontein Cave, Hartbeespoortdam and Rustenburg. There are many quaint shops and restaurants in Magaliesburg and Maanhaarrand area.
