Description
Makhato Lodge 33 is a double-storey thatched self-catering bush lodge located in the Sondela Nature Reserve near Bela Bela. The Sondela Nature Reserve in the Limpopo province is a private game reserve just 150 km from Johannesburg, where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the bushveld, encounters with zebra, kudu, impala and giraffe, or a spot of bird watching.
Lodge 33 can accommodate up to 8 guests and comprises 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, an upstairs loft, and an open-plan kitchen, dining area and living room. Each bedroom contains a queen-size bed and a shower en suite with a toilet and washbasin.
The large upstairs loft contains a lounge area, a 6-seater dining table and chairs, and a pool table. The loft opens to a covered balcony deck with a 6-seater dining table and couches.
The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and is fitted with a fridge-freezer, stove and oven, microwave, kettle, and breakfast bar with stools. The cosy lounge contains a flat-screen TV with a selection of DStv channels. The lounge opens to a covered patio with picnic tables. Outside, there is a boma with seating, a firepit and a built-in braai.
Sondela offers an on-site restaurant and bar, a farmyard coffee shop, a general dealer for basic necessities, communal swimming pools, a wildlife centre, and the on-site Iketla Wellness and Spa. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy including game drives, horse rides, bicycles for hire, a 4x4 obstacle course, and guided quad rides.
