Description
Makhato Lodge 42 is a thatched self-catering bush lodge located in the Sondela Nature Reserve near Bela Bela. The Sondela Nature Reserve in the Limpopo province is a private game reserve just 150 km from Johannesburg, where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the bushveld, encounters with zebra, kudu, impala and giraffe, or a spot of bird watching.
Lodge 42 can accommodate up to 8 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms, an upstairs loft room, 3 bathrooms and a guest toilet, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The first bedroom contains an extra-length king-size bed and an open-plan en suite with a bath, a shower, twin washbasins and an enclosed toilet. This room has doors opening to a private patio. The second bedroom contains an extra-length queen-size bed and has doors opening to the boma and outside entertainment area. The third bedroom contains an extra-length queen-size bed. All the bedrooms are air-conditioned. The second and third bedrooms share a bathroom with a corner bath, a shower, a toilet and a washbasin. The upstairs open-plan loft room contains 2 single beds, and a shower en suite with a toilet and washbasin.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a fridge-freezer, stove and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, and a separate scullery with a dishwasher. The lounge is air-conditioned and contains ample seating and a flat-screen TV with a selection of DStv channels. The living area opens to a covered patio with an 8-seater outdoor dining table, gas braai facility and a drinks fridge. There is also a separate boma area with a fire pit braai area. Car port parking is provided.
Sondela offers an on-site restaurant and bar, a farmyard coffee shop, a general dealer for basic necessities, communal swimming pools, a wildlife centre, and the on-site Iketla Wellness and Spa. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy including game drives, horse rides, bicycles for hire, a 4x4 obstacle course, and guided quad rides.
