Description
Makhato Lodge 88 is a double-storey thatched self-catering bush lodge located in the Sondela Nature Reserve near Bela Bela. The Sondela Nature Reserve in the Limpopo province is a private game reserve just 150 km from Johannesburg, where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the bushveld, encounters with zebra, kudu, impala and giraffe, or a spot of bird watching.
Lodge 88 can accommodate up to 8 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms, an upstairs loft room, 3 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen and living room. The first bedroom contains a queen-size bed, and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, a shower, a toilet, and a large outside outshower. This room has doors opening to the outdoors. The second bedroom contains a queen-size bed and has doors opening to the outdoors. The third bedroom contains 2 single beds. These 2 rooms have shared use of a bathroom with a bath and a shower, a toilet and a washbasin. The upstairs loft room contains 2 single beds, and a shower en suite with a toilet and washbasin. This room opens to a covered balcony deck with outdoor seating.
The marble-topped kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and is fitted with a microwave, kettle, toaster, and separate scullery. There is also a breakfast bar with 6 stools. The lounge offers comfortable seating and a flat-screen TV with a selection of DStv channels. The living area opens to a covered patio with outdoor dining furniture and a built-in braai. There is also a large lapa with a firepit. Covered carport parking is provided.
Sondela offers an on-site restaurant and bar, a farmyard coffee shop, a general dealer for basic necessities, communal swimming pools, a wildlife centre, and the on-site Iketla Wellness and Spa. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy including game drives, horse rides, bicycles for hire, a 4x4 obstacle course, and guided quad rides.
