Description
Makhato Lodge 99 is a thatched self-catering bush lodge located in the Sondela Nature Reserve near Bela Bela. The Sondela Nature Reserve in the Limpopo province is a private game reserve just 150 km from Johannesburg, where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the bushveld, encounters with zebra, kudu, impala and giraffe, or a spot of bird watching.
Lodge 99 can accommodate up to 6 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms, an upstairs loft room, 2 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The first bedroom contains a king-size bed that can be converted to 2 single beds, and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower, a toilet and twin washbasins. The second bedroom contains a queen-size bed. The upstairs loft room contains 2 single beds, and opens to a covered balcony with outdoor furniture. These 2 rooms share a bathroom with a bath, a shower, a toilet, and twin washbasins.
The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and includes a stove and oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, a separate scullery, and a breakfast bar with 5 stools. The dining area contains a 6-seater dining table and chairs. The comfortable lounge features seating and a flat-screen TV with a selection of DStv channels. The living area opens to a covered patio with outdoor seating, and a 6-seater dining table and chairs. There is also a boma with a firepit, a built-in braai, and a picnic table.
Sondela offers an on-site restaurant and bar, a farmyard coffee shop, a general dealer for basic necessities, communal swimming pools, a wildlife centre, and the on-site Iketla Wellness and Spa. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy including game drives, horse rides, bicycles for hire, a 4x4 obstacle course, and guided quad rides.
