Swartberg Backpackers is situated 45km outside of Oudtshoorn, at the foot of the world-famous Swartberg Mountain Pass. If you booked the Woodstock unit, enjoy the private Hot Tub with an amazing view over the farm dam, Swartberg Mountain and waterfall. Splash around in our mountain swimming pool with nothing around you except for the sounds of nature, beauty, tranquillity, captivating and breathtaking views of the Swartberg Mountains.

Swartberg Backpackers does not make use of electricity, we use solar electricity, gas and wood fires. This means no TV. A hairdryer can only be used with generator power. The solar electricity provides enough power to charge a laptop, cellular phone, room lights as well as a portable 12V fridge. There are solar geysers and gas to provide warm water and a stainless steel "donkie" for the overcast and rainy days.

The accommodation comprises a 1-bedroom unit with a hot tub and a 2-bedroom unit with high-quality bunk beds. Both units have well-equipped kitchens with gas stoves, gas ovens, gas bar fridges and solar fridges. Please note there is no microwave in the units. Braai facilities are available for both units. The Ark unit has table tennis for those sports lovers.

Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. Please note that the units are not shared with other people.

On-site facilities include pedal cars, canoeing in the farm dam, swimming in the close-by swimming pool as well as the mountain swimming pool, and lots more.

Please note that we do not have any Restaurant, bar or shop facilities on our premises. However, there are a few restaurants nearby. The closest shop is in Oudtshoorn.
