Description
Vaalkop Private Game Reserve offers spacious accommodation ideal for a peaceful Karoo break with no threatening wildlife.
Guests are accommodated in a tastefully decorated 2 bedroomed cottage, each bedroom sleeps 2 and is en-suite with 2 three-quarter beds, a shower, toilet and hand basin. Crisp linen, towels and local braai wood are provided.
The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, microwave, portable gas cooker top, tea-and-coffee-making facilities, crockery and cutlery. The lounge area has wonderful mountain views and leads to a spacious furnished veranda with a built-in braai.
On the south side, a wooden deck winds along to a hide overlooking an earth dam where animals congregate to drink and play.
Nature walks are well signposted and vary in difficulty allowing guests to enjoy the terrain and wildlife of this unique area. Enjoy a cocktail high above the Karoo plains or in a beautiful, secluded mountain gorge.
Vaalkop specializes in breeding small antelope including Klipspringers, Blue duikers and Grysbokkies. Guests can accompany staff at feeding time to learn more about these shy and unique antelope. While on the trails and farm roads keep an eye open for kudu, impala, springbok, giraffe, blue wildebeest, common duikers, steenbuck and the scarce Cape mountain zebra along with numerous small cats and predators.
