Climb down a cast iron manhole in a park in Vredehoek to begin your Below the Surface Tour with Figure of 8. These tunnels were once used to supply the company gardens and passing ships with fresh water and make for an exhilarating experience for adventurers, deep below the city centre.

The start of the tunnel is only 1.5m high so be prepared to explore the tunnels hunched over for the first 20 minutes. Headlamps, gumboots (sizes 5 and up), a permit, and soft drinks and refreshments are provided.
