Cecilia Makiwane Hospital is a tertiary teaching hospital in the Mdantsane township in East London, Eastern Cape. The hospital is part of the East London Hospital complex and, along with Frere hospital serves a population of 267,000. The hospital was named after the first African woman to become a professional nurse in South Africa.

GETTING THERE

The hospital is located at 4 Billie Road in Mdantsane Unit 4 in East London. Billie road is off the R102 Main road which, alongside the N2 Highway, runs through East London. The closest town is King William’s Town, situated 38.6km North West on the N2 Highway.
