If you love to try local brews when you travel, a stop-over at Clarens Brewery in the Free State is a must! Set in the beautiful village of Clarens in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains, the brewery offers free tastings of their fine hand crafted beers and cider. Once you’ve settled on your favourite, you can relax with a draught and enjoy one of the most spectacular mountain views.

Clarens Brewery opened in December 2006, and is the first and only microbrewery in the Free State. All products are unpasteurised and free of preservatives and additives. Of the 5,000 litres brewed every month, half is bottled and half is served on tap in the tasting room. You will also find refreshing, light, and dry ciders crafted from sun-kissed apples and pink cherries that have been grown in the orchards outside of town. The unique selection of beers and cider include Clarens Blonde, Clarens English Ale, Clarens Stout, Clarens Red, and Red Stone Pure Apple Cider.
