Hole in the Wall
Description
The Hole in the Wall is a fascinating natural rock formation in the form of an archway situated just off the Wild Coast, Eastern Cape. This well-known South African landmark has been formed over many years by the endless motion of the waves rolling against the sandstone and shale. This area is called esiKhaleni which means “the place of sound†due to the striking clapping sound that occurs during certain weather conditions. Locals believe that the archway is a gateway to the world of their ancestors.
