Mission Rocks
Description
The rocky shores of Mission Rocks, located 16km north of the St Lucia estuary in KwaZulu-Natal, is a great picnic spot for day visitors. The rock pools, filled with plenty of fascinating marine life at low tide, provide hours of safe fun for the little ones, while the dunes offer excellent vantage points to view the lake, coastline, and ocean.
The beach is also a popular fishing spot, but snorkelling and swimming is not advisable. There are fantastic picnic spots where one can enjoy magnificent views over the lake system, over Catalina Bay, towards Charter’s Creek. Just 5km north of the picnic area, you will find Bats Caves, which is filled with many fruit eating bats.
