Description

The 200-seater Parkers Comedy theatre (previously the Globe Theatre) is a wonderful entertainment venue in Ormonde, Johannesburg, presenting a range of entertainment, music, and comedy shows. The original Globe Theatre was opened in the early 1890s by Barney Barnato under the name “the Empire Palace of Varieties”. It hosted the first moving picture shows in South Africa, as well as Ghandi’s campaign of “passive resistance” in 1907. It has since been rebuilt at the Gold Reef City Casino complex and offers state of the art facilities, complete with velvet touches and elegant murals.
