GETTING THERE
Port Alfred Hospital is situated in Southwell road in Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape. The nearest main road is the R72 (Settlers way) that runs through Port Alfred and past the hospital. Port Alfred is situated 16km South of Bathurst on the R67 and 18km South-West of Seafield on the R72.
PAYMENT
Private Sector:
Medical Aid patients are to follow guidelines set out by their Medical Aid Fund. Private patients will be provided with an estimate by the hospital. The estimate is not the final bill, as many factors determine the final amount, such as specialist fees. The estimate provided by the hospital is payable prior to admission in cash, by eft/internet transfer or debit/credit card.
Public Sector:
Services are free to pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as children under the age of six years old. Other citizens are charged according to a sliding scale depending on their income.
