Description
Pretoria Boys High School (also known as Boys High) is a public boarding school in Pretoria. It is one of the best secondary schools in South Africa and one of the oldest schools in Gauteng. It teaches Grade 8 to 12 and currently has 1,500 students, of which around 300 are boarders.
Set on an 85 acre campus, the school has a neoclassical red bricked main building dating back to 1909 that has been declared a provincial heritage site. The school grounds also have a second campus, Pollock Campus, as well as various sporting and recreational facilities. There are 3 boarding houses on the grounds, including Rissik House, Solomon House, and School House. Pretoria Boys High School’s sister school is Pretoria High School for Girls.
HERITAGE
Founded in 1901 by Charles Hop, Pretoria Boys High School’s motto is Virtute et Labore which means “through courage and labour”.
ACADEMICS
Pretoria Boys High School Matrics generally achieve 100% pass rates in the NCS examinations and in excess of 80% University Entrance Passes - making it one of the top schools in South Africa.

The most important sports grounds are called Hofmeyr Oval, and Mulvenna, Oehley, Dorey, Shalang, and Brooks Field.
