Description

The Roedean School (SA) is an independent day and boarding school for girls in Houghton, Johannesburg. The school consists of St Margaret’s School (Grade 0 – 3), a junior school (Grade 4 – 7) and a senior school (Grade 8 – 12). The Roedean School (SA) has an Anglican foundation and is linked with St John’s College.

HERITAGE

The Roedean School (SA) was founded in 1903 by Theresa Lawrence and her close friend, Katherine Margaret Earle as a sister school for Roedean School in Brighton. These two young women founded the school with just 22 students in a small house in Jeppestown. In 1904, it relocated to its current location in Houghton in a building designed by Sir Herbert Baker.

ACADEMICS

The Roedean School 2014 Matrics achieved an impressive 100% pass rate and a 99% University Entrance pass. The school motto is Honneur Aulx Dignes which means “Honour to the Worthy”.
