Rondebosch Boys’ High School (RBHS), also known as "Bosch", is a public boarding school for boys in the leafy suburb of Rondebosch, Cape Town. Nestled at the foot of Table Mountain, Rondebosch Boys’ is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in South Africa. The school caters for Grade 8 to Grade 12 and currently has 805 students. Rondebosch also has a Prep School and a Grade R facility called Little Bosch on a separate campus. The sister school is Rustenburg High School for Girls.

The boarding houses at Rondebosch can accommodate 120 boys. The Grade 8 and 9 boys are housed in Mason House and the Grade 10 to 12 boys are accommodated in Canigou.

HERITAGE

Rondebosch Boys’ was founded in 1897 by the Rev Marchand and Messrs Andrews and Fletcher. The school opened as Rondebosch High School for Junior Boys in Glena Hall, a Dutch Reformed Church building with just 8 students. By August, the name had changed to the Boys’ High School, Rondebosch. Rondebosch Boys’ High School moved to its new location in 1898.

ACADEMICS

Rondebosch has maintained a 100% Matric pass rate for the last 7 consecutive years. Rondebosch was named the top public school in the Western Cape in 2014 with 78 learners obtaining 3 or more distinctions each. A total of 459 subject distinctions were obtained with a record number of distinctions in English (47) and Mathematics (59). A total of 47 learners passed at Bachelor Degree Level with over 97.4%. The school motto is Altius et Latius which means “Higher and Wider”.

Rondebosch participates in all sports and is known for its excellent Music Department and diverse range of extracurricular clubs and societies. The most important sports grounds are called Rugby A and Cricket A.
