Sasol Art Museum
Description
The Sasol Art Museum is a fantastic art gallery housed in a Dutch Neo-classical building in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. Most of the art is focused on the cultural and anthropological history of South Africa, and is closely associated with the University of Stellenbosch’s art department. It features a collection of sculptures, paintings, ceramics, and graphics done by both South African and foreign artists from the 19th and 20th century. There are also plenty of traditional items worth a look, such as domestic and ritual items, weaponry, clothing, and other various artefacts from all over the African continent. Interesting features include the reproductions of San rock art and many ritualistic items.
