The Alexander Bar Upstairs Theatre

Description

The Alexander Bar and Café is host to an intimate 40-seater theatre venue known as Alexander Upstairs. Situated in the Cape Town CBD, the theatre offers live performances of music, comedy, drama, readings, and more. Live performances are scheduled every evening, but the auditorium is often available for day time hire for presentations, screenings, small corporate shows, and more.

Downstairs, the Alexander Bar attracts an interesting mix of locals and tourists from the nearby hotels. The venue has an old world charm with soft background jazz music and a functioning antique rotary dial telephone system which allows you to chat to people all over the bar. The menu is fairly priced and there’s something to suit all tastes and budgets. Don’t forget to try the craft beers and local wines as you settle into the soft jazz music. The kitchen is open until midnight if you’re feeling a little peckish after the show.
