Toy And Miniature Museum
Description
The Toy and Miniature Museum in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, is a fascinating attraction for all ages. It houses a captivating collection of 1:12 scale miniatures of railway sets, room boxes, dollhouses, stuffed toys, cars, kitchen items, furniture, and more.
The interior of the 1:12 scale replica has three 19th century upstairs rooms upstairs and three downstairs rooms. You will find every miniature furniture item imaginable here, such as tiny chests, antique cupboards, pots and pans, tea cups, four poster beds, grandfather clocks, cutlery, crockery, and even tiny plates of food on the tables. Don’t miss out on spotting the world’s smallest kitchen in a matchbox, the topsy-turvy doll, Paddington Bear, replica of the farmhouse in Uitkyk Wine Estate, and the intricate miniature model of South Africa’s Blue Train. The train travels from a replica of the town of Stellenbosch through the Cape winelands and mountains to the Karoo before returning back to Stellenbosch again.
In a dark room you’ll find displays portraying a motorbike workshop, an Oriental Carpet Shop, and a Stellenbosch backyard from 1690 where the lighting is programmed to change from daytime light to night-time every two minutes. No matter how many times you visit, you are sure to discover something new!
