Umdloti Beach
Description
Umdloti Blue Flag beach is one of three lovely stretches of beach in the coastal town of Umdloti, set 10km north of Umhlanga Rocks, along KwaZulu-Natal’s Dolphin Coast. Beach-goers can expect a lot of sunshine, sand, rock pools, and tantalizingly warm water that is ideal for swimming.
Parents can rest assured that the little ones can splash safely as there are shark nets, lifeguards, and rock pools with fascinating marine life at low tide. Beautiful inshore reefs provide opportunities for surf, rock, and ski boat angling as well as diving and surfing. Other water sports include windsurfing, kite boarding, paddling, and jet skiing.
As the name of this part of the coast implies, the beach is a wonderful spot to watch the spectacle of dolphins surfing the waves. Between July and November, the beach is also ideal for whale watching. Dogs are allowed on this beach and there is wheelchair access.
