Vryheid Airport
Description
Vryheid Airport is a small airport located in the town of Vryheid, in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. It is set 1158 metres above sea level. The airport offers no scheduled flights, but private jet charters are available to and from the airport.
A new regional airport in Vryheid is scheduled to be completed in 2017, for reasons, as stated by Vryheid regional airport project coordinator Stanley Kubheka: “The current airport’s capacity is no longer sufficient to meet the growing aviation demands and potential in South Africa, as the runways are too short, there is no tower and the surrounding buildings halt new developments.â€
