Langebaan is blessed with a temperate climate year-round, and after my two nieces returned raving about the features at Club Mykonos they loved, I thought it’s time to share the love and give parents the inside scoop on why children adore this piece of paradise as much as – if not more so – than adults do.

1. Donkey rides

Chester, the doe-eyed donkey is a hit with kids of all ages, and dutifully walks at a slow pace while little ones squeal in delight at being astride the humble mammal.

2. Giant Chess sets

Get a body and brain workout when you opt to play on one of the giant chess sets located around Club Mykonos.

3. Ice-Cream

Let’s face it – kids and ice-cream go together (unless, of course, they’re lactose intolerant), but Gelato, soft serve, full cream, and ice lollies are a great way to beat the summer heat.

4. The direct beach access

Bordering the ocean with direct beach access, little ones and teens happily make use of the soft beach sand to make sand castles and sunbathe, while games such as netball and Frisbee are afternoon sports that often lead to them making new friends, in a safe environment.

5. Swimming pools

Though the oceans on the doorstep, the various swimming pools ensure that mom and dad can keep an eye on the little ones.

6. Jacuzzi 

Jacuzzi’s are simply the best spot for bonding with friends, relieving stress, relaxing tight muscles and sipping that virgin daiquiri.

7. Games Room and Mini Golf

Complete with arcade games, kids at the resort tend to hang out in the games room when the weather turns. When the weather’s good though, the outdoor putt-putt area is fun for the whole family.

8. Meals at the Yacht Club

There’s something about boats that fascinate the kids and can keep their attention for hours, watching the yachts ebb and sway in the water opposite the restaurants. Or perhaps it’s not the boats themselves but the dreams of being a pirate that hold their attention.

9. The Club Onos Clubhouse

With arts and crafts, and indoor jungle gym, jumping castles, pool tables, kiddies’ meals movie screenings and more available, the Club Onos is where you’re likely to find your little one wanting to spend most of their time. It’s a great way for the kids to socialise and make new friends, though quiet corners and reading nooks are available for the more introverted darlings. A small fee for the supervision of the children is applicable.

10. Adventure Centre for older Teens

While the above may seem too sedate for some, the Adventure Centre holds an appeal for those who like action-centric activities such as archery, quad biking and paintball. Due to their popularity, these activities must be booked in advance. Area activities such as SUP paddling, kayaking, and other adventurous watersports are available in Langebaan.
