Christopher Hogan Art Workshops

If you’re an aspiring artist, Shamwari Game Reserve offers you the chance to fine tune your skills with the guidance of legendary artist, Christopher Hogan. From 1 – 21 November 2013, Christopher Hogan will be the first resident artist at Shamwari to conduct various art workshops and talks with guests. A unique art exhibition will also take place during his stay. The 2-hour art classes will be held twice a day, 6 days a week. Private art classes can also be arranged with prior notice.

Cost: US$60 (approx. R600) for adults and US$30 (approx. R300) for children aged 5-14 years. All materials are supplied and pre booking is essential.

2-Day Pro Photo Safari

Successfully launched in June 2013, Shamwari Game Reserve offers 2-day Pro Photo Safaris led by renowned photographers Iky and Ryan, of Iky’s Photographic. Guests are guided through photography and editing techniques throughout their stay and are able to capture amazing scenes on the reserve.

Cost: R5,000 per person per day, for a minimum of 2 days, with accommodation options at any of the Shamwari lodges. Equipment is available for hire at R1,750 per set per day, subject to availability at the time of booking.

Sanctuaries

The Born Free Foundation Animal Rescue and Education Centre at Shamwari Game Reserve incorporates a museum and educational facility to create awareness of how wildlife is exploited in captivity around the world. Guests at Shamwari are able to visit one of the 2 Big Cat Sanctuaries and see some of the rescued animals. In addition, guests can visit the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and the Ian Player Rhino Awareness Centre.
