The Cape Winelands are starting the new year off with style, class, and tons of summertime fun! Check out these entertaining events happening in January and February 2014.
1. Riesling Rocks returns to Hartenberg Wine Estate
Get the year into gear at the annual Riesling Rocks Festival, taking place at Hartenberg Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. Celebrated winemaker, Carl Shultz, regarded as one of the country’s finest Riesling masters, has invited South Africa’s top wine producers to showcase their premium Weisser/Rhine Rieslings at this fabulous food and wine celebration. Live entertainment will make for a memorable experience and to ensure you don’t go hungry, delicious treats will be available for purchase from the various deli stalls on the day.

2. Solms-Delta Summer Concerts
Each Saturday evening, from 25 January – 22 February 2014, you can enjoy traditional Kaapse-kos and Solms-Delta wines while you listen to the sounds of local favourites alongside the talented Music van de Caab musicians, the Soetstemme choir, and the Delta Langbroeke. Pre-order a picnic or buy traditional favourites such as Chef Shaun’s famous braai-bord, Malaysian chicken or veg curry roti, waterblommetjie lamb potjie, and kiddies’ boerewors rolls.

3. Jason’s Hill hosts top SA performers
Jason’s Hill Private Cellar is hosting the not-to-be missed concert by well-known SA performers, Robbie Wessels and Bok van Blerk, on 25 January 2014. Both artists will be performing some of their popular songs as well as a few new ones. Relax and unwind on the estate’s immaculate lawns whilst the kids run around before the show. Delicious food and refreshments will be available to purchase.
When: 25 January 2014. Gates open at 6pm, the show starts at 7pm.

4. Franschhoek Summer Wines
Celebrate summer in style by heading to Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards on Saturday, 8 February 2014, for the annual Franschhoek Summer Wines. This intimate and relaxing festival showcases the premium summer wines of Franschhoek’s finest estates and is the perfect opportunity for wine lovers to engage with the winemakers themselves. Complement your wines with mouth-watering rotisserie-style food, prepared by the chefs in the Leopard’s Leap Kitchen. Live entertainment and the enchanting scenery of the valley will ensure an unforgettable day. The theme for this year’s event is “elegantly white”.

5. A Food and Wine Affair at Lourensford
UPDATE: Due to unforeseen circumstances the Food & Wine Affair At Lourensford will no longer be taking place over the weekend of 15 and 16 February. However, the event will be taking place in November 2014 and as soon as we’ve received confirmation of dates we’ll advise you accordingly.
The inaugural A Food & Wine Affair is happening over the weekend of 15 and 16 February at Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West. In association with Checkers, Lourensford will provide non-stop activities and entertainment for the whole family. With sprawling green lawns, this world renowned wine estate is the perfect place for kids to run around or partake in one of the many fun-filled activities such as inflatable hop on animals, an obstacle course, tractor rides, a water slide, and so much more. Mom and dad can sip, sample, and savour the superb local wines, craft beers, cocktails, and delicious bubblies on offer while tucking into delectable food from the local fresh produce exhibitors. Local bands will provide live entertainment throughout the festivities.
