Due to numerous unique ecosystems at play in the area, there are plenty of outdoor adventures to enjoy.

Lagoon Adventures

–          Sailing

If you choose to go sailing in the lagoon, be aware of the harbour police who patrol daily and are not amused if you don’t have your fishing or skippers license on you.

–          Kite surfing

Attempted only by the brave, kite surfing is an exhilarating thrill across the turquoise waters.

–          Kayaking

Paddling within the lagoon is a great way to explore the little nooks and coves that are otherwise inaccessible.

Tips:

  • Bring along a jacket as the wind can add a chill factor – especially at night.
  • Pack hiking shoes and bring a mountain bike to explore the nature trails.
  • Explore Eve’s Trail over a 2 ½ day hike, as the beautiful views alone make it worthwhile. The trail winds through the West Coast Biosphere down to the ocean shore, and follows the path that anthropologists assume Mitochondrial Eve once walked. You can view a replica of her footprints within the West Coast Fossil Park.
