2. It’s not about the bike

The annual Cape Town Cycle Tour is the world’s biggest individually-timed cycle race. 3. Where the wild things are

5. Run Forest run

South Africa hosts the biggest ultra marathon in the world, the Comrades Marathon. This annual race started in 1921 and is truly a test of physical and mental strength. And, as a testament to endurance, the record-holder for the most wins is Bruce Fordyce, a South African!

8. Flying without wings

If heights don’t scare you, a bungy jump off the Bloukrans Bridge should absolutely be on your bucket list! At an impressive 216 m, it’s the highest commercial bungy jump bridge in the world and will get your adrenaline pumping to the absolute max.

9. Tastes like home

When thinking Proudly South African, rooibos tea is surely one of the first things that come to mind. 11. Haunted shores

If only our vast shoreline could speak, it would tell the daunting tales of treacherous tides, horrible misjudgements and thousands of souls lost. Yes, the South African coast has become a graveyard to more than 2 000 shipwrecks over the years. Many are visible and can be visited, such as the Jacaranda and Meisho Maru 38.

12. Drifting down through the clouds
