With spring taking hold of our beautiful country, shouldn’t we start celebrating the vibrant colours and life that this season brings? Below are some of the top scenic places to go and see beautiful flowers, quaint landscapes, and young wildlife.
Spring also brings about a beautifully illuminated landscape in Namibia, and the hiking trail that traverses the Fish River Canyon will reveal views of stagnant riverbeds, towering mountains, and unique landscapes. Summer seasons bring with them flash floods and intense heat waves, so hiking permits are withheld for safety reasons between October and April, for the Fish River Canyon trail. However, there are other fantastic trails to explore over spring, such as the Naukluft Mountains trails, the Waterberg Wilderness trail, and the Waterkloof trail.
Wildlife tends to abound in spring, with babies being birthed by numerous species, and sure-footed parents start teaching their offspring to begin walking with confidence across the multi-coloured landscapes.
Spring and summer herald in the rainy season for the Kruger National Park, and surrounding parks, in the Northern reaches of South Africa. If you’re hoping to do game viewing, then visiting between May to October is recommended, as the grass is shorter and animal spotting is far easier.
Please note the second last picture below does not depict cheetah cubs from South Africa … but aren’t they adorable?!
Send us some of your favourite spring time photographs of South Africa, and you could have them featured on the TravelGround Facebook page, or our blog!
