"Unfortunately the streets and pavements of Ladybrand although fairly clean are in a very bad state of repair. We were told you cannot drink the tap water so have to buy bottled water. Sad to see a once lovely town falling into a state of bad repair."

"Smithfield is small and of all the small towns I went through in two weeks, this was actually one of the better maintained "dorpies" (i.e. the roads were in good shape, the town was fairly clean, which could not be said for many of the other towns). Did not do much sightseeing in Smithfield, but bought some good meat at the butcher!"
