The venue is beautiful but the staff are in need of hospitality training.

Not what we expected.

Privacy and the use of the whole lodge for a family of 10 was the main reason we booked this lodge. 7 rooms were available and advertised, and we booked all of them and were assured that we will be the only guests at the lodge and the use of facilities will be ours (by old and new management as there was a takeover). When we called to confirm our booking because they were not advertised anymore, Deidre (wife of owner) said the kitchen was off limits due to health and safety regulations, which was a problem, because how were we supposed to prepare our food? We decided to start looking for another place, but then Deidre said that the kitchen will make the food for us as long as we tell them what we want and supply the food, so we agreed to keep the booking. With the final payment, we just wanted to confirm the arrangement with food, and then Deidre said instead of making the food for us they decided to set up a whole new kitchen for us. When we arrived, we saw that there were 7 new rooms built, and during our stay, 9 more guests booked in, and the owner with his family of 4 also stayed at the lodge and used the facilities. The kitchen they built for us was a small wooden Wendy, smelling of varnish, and was extremely hot during the day. The kitchen had a rack with a few plates, glasses, bowls, pots and cutlery (that bend when you used it), a basin, fridge and very very small gas stove and oven, not at all the standard of what a kitchen should look like at a lodge, more like a kitchen on a camping site. When we got there the manager told us that we are not allowed to use the dining area inside, but after we displayed our unhappiness about the whole setup and what was promised, the owner said we can use the inside facilities and the kitchen staff will assist us with the making of food that we could not make in the small outside kitchen. The cleaning ladies and kitchen staff were really very helpful and the rooms were very neat and clean. The swimming pool is very small, more like a splash pool, and there is only one braai area. This place is more for guests staying over for a night, not for a big family on vacation, as it is far from the beach and in a residential area. The location was our mistake, but from photos we got the idea it is a lodge on a big piece of land, but it is not. The service from the personnel was good, but the privacy that was promised and not received was a big issue for us.

The host was kind and approachable. We enjoyed chatting to her and learning more about the area. We would have liked to see more personality added to the rooms in terms of decor. Also, our rooms weren't very clean - black mold appeared in the bathroom over night, there were many ants, the bedding was stained, the shower soap dispenser was empty, and the aircon was not working properly.

Total awesomeness.

Good location, excellent customer service and value for money.

Convenient.

No issues, lodge manager showed good care and I was made to feel at home.

Geen seep in die kamer nie en die stortdeur is stukkend. Ek dink die eienaar moet dalk ’nn dranklisensie kry en n behoorlike ontbytspyskaart .Die plek het baie potensiaal. Sal dit weer gebruik.

It was a lovely stay.

The place looked beautiful, what you see on the site is what you get, although the wifi wasn't working it was a pleasant stay all in all.

Goed geprys en waarde vir geld.
