Ons is lekker bederf gewees deur hul vriendelike gasheer en -vrou! Baie netjies!

Agama Tente Kap was 'n aangename ervaring. Ons is baie vriendelik ontvang en hulle diens is puik. Die warmwatersak in die bed was 'n verrassing gewees!

Mooi plaaspad tot by kamp. Alles pragtig onderhou.

Wat 'n mooi rusplek. Die lekkerste aandete in 'n lang tyd. Baie dankie.

Fantastiese blyplek. Lief dit baie.

'n Fantastiese experience wat in harmonie met die natuur is. 'n Klas van sy eie. Heerlike aandete en oggendete. Wonderlike gasheer. Hulle het regtig aan alles gedink om dit 'n onvergeetlike verblyf te maak.

Gasvrye verblyf in ongerepte Namakwaland skoonheid.

Op 'n koue triestige aand in Namakwaland was ons vriendelike gasheerpaar 'n bonus. Die 2 kaggelvure en heerlike plaaskos was gul en smaaklik. Die tente is in ongerepte natuurskoon met pragtige uitsigte. Die koue wind het die skrapse houtpaaltjie badkamerafskortings nog yler laat voel! Die gebrek aan kragpunte in die tent was onnodig ongerieflik in verband met 'n haardroër, ketel en selfoonherlaaiing. Slegs kitskoffie in die kamer is onvoldoende in 'n era met 'n gesofistikeerde koffiekultuur.

Uitstekende verblyf weg van die stadsgeraas.

Sjoe, dit was regtig aangenaam. Die fasiliteite, omgewing, gasheer en gasvrou, die kos veral en die heerlike samesyn met ander gaste het die uitstappie die moeite werd gemaak. Die gebrek aan elektrisiteit sonder 'n TV en lugversorging in die tente was eintlik 'n bonus om regtig te ontspan.

Lekker bederfplek!

Ons was 'n hele paar jaar gelede daar. Definitiewe verbeteringe aangetref. Die omgewing was vol blomme. Baie mooi.

Absoluut fantastiese verblyf.

Beveel hierdie verblyf ten sterkste aan. Heerlike etes en slaapgeriewe. Dankie Victor en Linda.

Our host and hostess made us feel so very welcome. It was an exceptional experience. Food was delicious! Could have stayed a few more days for sure. I highly recommend Agama Tented Camp.

'n Oase in Namakwaland.

Wow, as ek 10 sterre kon gee, het ek. Linda en Victor is 'n eersteklas gasvrou en gasheer. Linda se aandetes en ontbyt is uit die boeke uit. Die plaasrit saam met Victor was insiggewend en baie mooi. Die tente is goed toegerus en die beddegoed puik. Cosmos se kooldis saam met aandete was 'n wenner. Die personeel is vriendelik en behulpsaam. Sal definitief weer wil gaan.

Heerlike, stil, afskakeltyd.

An unique experience. The units in the camp are comfortable. The hosts are very welcoming and went the extra mile. The food needs a special mention, delicious "boerekos". Peace and tranquility!

A wonderful lodge in a magnificent setting.

Beautifully located in the heart of Namaqualand. You would have to look hard to find a better place to witness the rich diversity of the Namaqualand spring flowers. Victor and Linda are friendly, professional with a keen eye for detail and pay attention to the things which make a stay at Agama memorable and special.

Remote mountain getaway to recharge.

Personal touch from wonderful hosts, South African hospitality, caring, providing what was needed during our trip during the August flower season. Excellent home-cooked meals. I highly recommend this venue. Scenic route with beautiful flowers on the farm. Will be back as soon as we can.

'n Ongelooflike ervaring.

Elke persoon wat gaan blomme kyk moet ten minste een aand by Agama Tented Camp slaap. Dit is 'n ongelooflike ervaring. Ons het die mooiste wild gesien. Victor en Linda se gasvryheid is onbeskryflik, ons het regtig lekker saam die ander gaste gekuier. Ons het ook baie lekker geëet en so lekker geslaap dat ons skoon verslaap het. Dit is 'n moet vir elke persoon wat in die omgewing is.

As we neared Springbok, our spirits soared when we saw the first sparse clusters of flowers along the roadside, announcing that we were nearing the coveted Namaqualand flower region. And as we drove on, the profundity of blooms increased, all waving an enthusiastic welcome to their colourful and unique region of the Cape. With growing anticipation, we watched the kilometres count down on the Garmin Nuvi to the turnoff from the N7 onto Klipfontein Road, as we headed for the next three nights of our adventure. Finally, the sterile female voice instructed us to turn westwards and ten minutes later to turn right into the gate to the Agama Tented Camp farm (Agama meaning Gecko). We had been given the code to the combination lock securing the gate and soon we were driving on a winding gravel track that weaved through the verdant shrubbery bathed in the enhancing glow of the late afternoon sun. After twenty minutes, we spied the roofs of the seven tented chalets reflecting in the distance. We received a genial welcome from Victor Burke, owner of the camp, who was trim and dapper, scampering around like an excited Fox Terrier. He directed us to a parking spot, then instructed Alex to assist with carrying our kit along the path to tent number three where we were to spend our next three nights. It was everything that we had hoped for. The tent was spartan, yet luxurious in comparison to ‘real’ camping … and the location was awe-inspiring. We dumped everything inside the tent and strolled back along the winding sand path through the patches of jewel-like flowers to the main lounge area and had a drink sitting outside by the pool. Later at dinner, I chose the lamb pie and Paddy had chicken pieces which we washed down with a bottle and a half of Sauvignon Blanc. We went to bed and it was a very warm night during which I slept uncovered. Although the weather prediction indicated changing conditions, we had no way of knowing that the following night would be freezing and rainy! Dawn on Saturday was spectacular – the sun crept up behind the tents and sprayed the rocky hills opposite with hues of orange. After a generous English breakfast, served with bonhomie by hosts Victor and Linda, we set out on a long off-road trip that had been recommended by one of the other guests the previous evening. We headed out of the farm on the alternative route recommended by Victor and through a particularly scenic portion of the 7000-hectare farm to the Klipfontein Road. Then we turned south for a couple of kilometres and took the winding road along the N7 down to Garies where we turned off, doubling under the highway towards Studer’s Pass. We followed the gravel road through scenic hills and valleys, all adorned with differing hues of flowers. The route over Studer’s Pass again displayed the grandeur of Namaqualand. We drove past Lilliesfontein and around the Nourivier turnoff. Then we headed off the track onto a tiny farm road, opened a gate and went into the side-track where we stopped for snacks. The quietness and harmony of nature provided food for the soul. Insects buzzed languidly around us and the scent of the fynbos was intoxicating. Later, we pulled out of our private picnic spot, closed the gate and drove through the Kamiesberg Pass to Kamieskroon. All along the route, the profundity of flowers amidst the undulating countryside was breath-taking. That night the temperature plummeted. We returned to our tent to find it completely zipped and a gas heater burning inside. We were glad to be able to share the warmth of a double bed. The following day (Sunday) we got a map of the 7000-hectare farm from Victor and planned a serious 4x4 trail up the mountain. He warned us that the track was rough and gave us branch shears to cut away vegetation that would invariably impede our progress and scratch the side of the vehicle. It certainly was a challenging ride – ideal for experimenting with the capability of the Discovery. The crawl through the rugged terrain was enthralling – the solitude, the grandeur and the scenery, plus the flowers were utterly captivating. At the summit we stopped and spent three hours admiring the scenery, photographing the myriad flower species and collecting gnarled weathered wood pieces for ikebana. Sitting on the drop-down rear of the vehicle, we enjoyed a light lunch from all the lovely goodies that we still had kept fresh in the cooler box, having put the ice blocks in the camp’s freezer overnight. The drive back to Agama was even more spectacular in the late afternoon sun. The Discovery, now adorned with deep scratched along both sides, had taken a sever hammering on the sharp stones, but had performed impressively. Linda’s dinner was, again, typical boerekos and most enjoyable. As previously, the fires were lit inside the canvas sided dining room, which was closed against the chill of the evening, creating a cosy atmosphere. Our last breakfast completed, we were again replete with the generous offering of eggs, bacon, beans, mushrooms and sausage. It had been a delightful stay in so many ways, and certainly exceeded all our expectations. We look forward to returning.

Agama is geleë in 'n pragtige area, met 'n wye verskeidenheid van blomme. Die mense is vriendelik en doen baie moeite vir hul gaste. Ek sal definitief Agama aanbeveel!

Unieke verblyf en ervaring "in die middel van niks".

Absolute unieke ervaring - bly in luukse tente in die natuur! Victor en Linda was uitstekend en het ons baie welkom en tuis laat voel. Heerlike kos met 'n spesiale plaaslike touch. My persoonlike hoogtepunt was om net in die doodse stilte na die sterre te kon kyk - ek het die Melkweg nog nooit so mooi gesien en ervaar nie! Wees net bewus dat die verblyf in tente is - nou wel luukse tente, maar steeds tente. Dit maak die ervaring uniek, maar mens is meer uitgelewer aan die natuur - as die wind waai dan weet jy daarvan! En die ligging is bietjie van die pad af - laat vir jou 'n half-uur ekstra vir die laaste 10 km.

Heerlik en rustig. Ons het so lekker ontspan. Die gasheer en gasvrou is baie vriendelik en behulpsaam en die kos onverbeterlik.

Ons wou wegkom van die stad se gejaag en geraas. Dis presies wat ons gekry het. Geen klagtes. Heerlik gekuier en ontspan.

Dit was baie spesiaal en 'n hoogtepunt.

Die tent-avontuur was stunning. Die tente was onberispelik skoon en netjies. Die vuur in die boma voor aandete was heerlik en die kos wonderlik. Die lampies op die voetpaadjie is 'n gorgeous idee en die warmwatersak in die bed was die toppunt. Die persoonlike diens van die eienaars was regtig baie spesiaal.

Absoluut 'n fantastiese ervaring.

Dit was 'n wonderlike ervaring. Gasvrye en uitstekende diens! Pragtige plek en die heerlikste kos! Hierdie mense weet hoe om jou tuis te laat voel en te trakteer! Dit was puik!

Aangename en ongewone wildernisverblyf-ervaring.

Ten spyte van die gasheer en gasvrou se warm en sorgsame hartlikheid en besonderse moeite, asook die WONDERLIKE kos, is die tentverblyf nie ideaal vir Namakwaland se koue wintermaande nie! Die boma-ervaring om die kampvuur voor ete saans was voorwaar 'n belewenis wat ons lank sal onthou, ten spyte van die bittere koue.

Unique, beautiful setting with wonderful, gracious hosts

A lovely unique place to stay in during flower season. The tents are comfortable but I wouldn't want to be there in really bad weather! The hosts are very friendly and gracious and prepare lovely traditional down-to-earth meals for guests. Sitting around the boma before dinner with tourists from far flung places swapping tales was very sociable and entertaining.

What a wonderful and peaceful setting. We received a very warm and friendly welcome. Accommodation was very comfortable and greatly exceeded our expectations. Great tasty home cooked food and plenty of it. The service was great and nothing was too much trouble. Were made to feel very much at home. Unfortunately we only had booked for the one night and would recommend a minimum of two nights in order to really appreciate the beauty of the place.
