Situated in a central area, right off the bustling Kloof Street, and fairly close to a lot of the popular hangout spots. I had such a great stay at Ashanti Gardens Guest House and will definitely use them again in the future.

Absolutely enjoyed my stay. Would definitely recommend to my international friends.

Unfortunately, I cannot give the guest house a good recommendation. The unit door wouldn't close, the bathroom door wouldn't close, we couldn't get into reception and had to walk through the kitchen to check in. We had to stand in the rain and talk through the bars for help with the TV and we didn't get the room we booked. Upon booking you have to collect keys from another property down the road. The systems are not efficient.

This property can be so frustrating, logistically speaking. The collection of keys is at another separate property. The kitchenette is shared; with no ample space to move around when occupied by another person. The shared refrigerator is tiny, you will be lucky to find a place to put your stuff. The room I stayed in had a very strange set-up! Towels were not clean. The shower door kept getting stuck after closing it, I kind of had to push myself through a tiny opening!

On all of our communication we advise guests to collect the keys from the backpackers lodge and our guest house is down the road which is much quieter.
Thanks for advising us about the shower door getting stuck - we will look into it. I am afraid that we cannot fix something if we don't know about it!
You must have been unlucky with the fridge - usually there is enough space for everyone's belongings.
You must remember that having shared kitchen facilities is reflected in the extremely low rate you are paying.
