The experience was not worth the money.
We were three mature ladies who went to celebrate a very special occasion together in the Cape. The room we booked where 3 people could be together was really beautiful! Unfortunately we had to carry our own bags up the stairs and also down again when we left, I would expect them to do this service. Our room was furnished with three beds, but everything else in the room was for 2 people. We had to decide who would drink tea and who would drink coffee. There were only 2 Japanese. All the power plugs didn't work, and we had to scramble to get things plugged into power points that did work. The breakfast was cold every morning by the time we got it, and our experience was that the hostess was not happy when we asked to warm up some of the food. The place is beautiful but the price does not justify the cold food, no one carrying bags and that there were only coffee facilities set up for 2 people, I think we must have paid for 3.

Carmichael House Boutique Hotel 's response
Dear Riana,
We value our guests' comments, even if they are critical, as it helps us improve our service, but that's provided they are fair.
We did our best to allow you an early check-in since one of you was leaving the hospital. I carried her luggage up, leaving the two of you with cabin bags to bring one floor up.
Your Family Suite has inter-leading bedrooms and can sleep up to four adults sharing. It was geared for 3 adults with 3 sets of everything, from the towel sets to the glasses & cups. This is checked before check-in.
You are correct; during load shedding, none of the power points work, yet all lights in the common areas, the bedrooms & bathrooms, and the Wi-Fi still work as they are on an inverter. We are currently looking at going completely off-grid with a solar option.
For breakfast, we do ask our guests who want tea or coffee so that we can serve them accordingly. We bring freshly baked French croissants with butter & homemade jams, and unless you arrive at 07h AM for breakfast, they won't be hot out of the oven. For your information, unless they are baked with ham & cheese, in France, these are usually eaten with butter & jam or honey, and unless you happen to be there as soon as they come out of the oven, or around 04h30AM, you'll never find them hot. This delicate product loses most of its taste and appeal if reheated in the oven. It's even worse in the microwave.
I guess that comments like yours give more credit to the vast majority of excellent ones that one can find on large online platforms.

Just a pleasure. The owners are the friendliest and most involved people I have ever come across.
We really enjoyed our stay incredibly much. The guesthouse is beautiful, clean and incredibly user-friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners - they understand customer service. This is truly a guest house that I would recommend!

Expected more for what we paid.
Parking inside the premises is a big problem. Breakfast was delicious and they are very hospitable and interested in their customers. The room was very small and the geyser's pressure gauge is a problem: burned a few times when other taps were open while showering!
