Our stay was lovely, beautiful farm and charming cottage.

The perfect getaway and a place to reset and unwind.

What a lovely escape! The cottage is so quaint and cosy and has everything you need to be warm and comfy. The photos do not do this cottage justice! Beautiful walks, lovely swims in icy water. Felt like a real reset. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful, they even took us on a long walk on Sunday to find some pools to swim in. The host was also great at helping us with all the things to do in Sutherland. We want to come back!

Sielsverrykend en nou ontslae van stres - tot ons weer moet gaan.

Woorde ontbreek om 'n genotvolle tyd te beskryf. Daar is alles wat mens nodig het en die verskillende glase (wat normaalweg afgeskeep word) was genoeg vir die normale dranksoorte. Daar is aan alles gedink wat mens normaalweg sal benodig. Dit alles het bygedra tot 'n wonderlike tyd by die Die Skooltjie. Die inligting oor die geskiedenis van die Die Skooltjie was 'n heerlike gesprekspunt. Die vriendelikheid komplimenteer die Karoo. Die stilte en die mooi kan nie genoeg beklemtoon word nie. Dit is 'n plek wat mens moet besoek!

Heerlik gekuier. Baie rustig, net wat ons gehoop het!

Baie lekker. Baie goeie gasvrou. Pragtige plek.

Karoo Serenity.

What a beautiful cottage in the middle of the karoo. Very peaceful and quiet with a lovely mountain view. The perfect place to rest and recharge. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Tranquil, peaceful and a place to wind down.

Die Skooltjie is such a fantastic little gem of a place. Loved the wood burning oven and scenery. Thank you Hanlie and Thys for a great little cottage for the two days we spent there. Thank you Thys for the directions to go on the "Ouberg pass" it was absolutely worth it. We will see you again one day when we come down to explore more of the fabulous Tankwa.

Pragtig, as jy wil gaan rus en afskakel.

Alhoewel dit koud, nat en gesneeu het, het ons ons gate uit geniet. Die koolstoof het die heeldag gebrand. Dit was 'n voorreg om die geskiedenis van die Heyns familie en Die Skooltjie te ervaar. Thys en Hanlie se gasvryheid, veral met die tuisgebakte broodjie en Lena wat net hout aandra. Ons het nie eers op die plaas met sy pragige natuurskoon uitgekom nie. Sal beslis moet teruggaan.

The remoteness is incredible, and yet all the luxuries are there.

We had a wonderful long-weekend stay, even getting engaged under the lone kokerboom on the hilltop. Thys and Hanlie were such warm and welcoming hosts, happy to help with directions and recommendations, and firewood to counter the evening chill. They have a wealth of knowledge about the farm and surrounding areas, and appear happy and eager to share the space and the experience. The location is perfect. Far enough off the beaten track, yet accessible by car and equipped with everything you could ask for.

Rustig, veilig, netjies, heerlik afgesonder.

Hanlie en Thys se plaas is heerlik afgesonder, maar toeganklik vanaf Sutherland se pad. Great fietsryroete na oorspronlike opstalmurasie op plaas, lekker staproete. Ons het heerlik gerus. Hanlie en Thys is gemaklike en vriendelike gashere. Die huisie is gevul met geskiedenis. Alles is daar, tot genoeg komberse vir die winterkoue. Goed toegerus met sonkrag en fantastiese koolstoof vir hitte. Heerlik gekuier!
