Description

Hillside Farm is an established working farm situated in the stock farming area of the Southern Free State. The farm is located close to the N1 highway, between Trompsburg and Springfontein, an ideal overnight stop over for anyone travelling from Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and even KwaZulu-Natal to the Eastern or Western Cape.

Comfortable accommodation is offered in 3 units, comprising Len’s Cottage, Garden View and The Tree House. The accommodation is set in a beautiful garden where guests can appreciate the beauty of the Free State countryside. Each unit is equipped with a mini fridge, a microwave and tea- and coffee-making facilities. A full continental breakfast is laid out in each of the units daily. Guests can enjoy a choice of cereals, yoghurt, fresh or stewed fruit poached in rooibos tea, cheese and preserves, fruit juice, freshly baked muffins, and tea and coffee.

Hillside Farm offers secure parking, as well as several outdoor activities for guests to enjoy. Explore the farm on foot, view farm activities, go cycling, play tennis or cricket, or take a dip in the swimming pool. The pool is enclosed by a stone wall, and is surrounded by aged trees and green lawns. Experience the playful frolicking lambs in spring, observe the shearing of woolly sheep or the weighing and marking of the Red Angus calves. Seated comfortably on your verandah or a picnic blanket on the lawn, witness a clear night sky and enjoy an evening of star gazing.

The farm has been managed by the family for 4 generations and for more than 100 years. Each generation has brought different contributions to the farm.
