Will recommend.

A weekend is short and we were not in the cottage much. Had a bit of trouble with the gas shears, but we got the hang of it. The gas/solar experience was new to us. It's a beautiful environment.

Great Value for money and a wonderful hostess.

Overall, excellent value for money. The hostess, Gia, is excellent and is very responsive. She takes pride in her property. We went as a group of 9 (5 kids and 4 adults). The servicing usually means that you pay a service fee to have the place cleaned, but we were asked (very nicely by the host) to ensure we washed all the dishes, removed all the rubbish and put everything away. That's no problem. Happy to do so, but when I asked what the service charge is for, she said it was for a deep clean before we came to the place, other than that: excellent family weekend and value for money!

It was peaceful and quiet, scenery was stunning and the chalet was fantastic.

The deck was awesome to sit on and watch the sunset and to stargaze.

Relaxing, rustic bush experience with homely comforts.

We had an enjoyable stay. The unit was clean and well kitted out. Only a short walk down to the river. Lovely photo opportunities and family time.

Awesome plek!

Awesome place!

The thatched "stone cabin" is in the forest and is very neat, clean and comfortable with a very large deck (above and below) and the braai/boma area under the trees is a very nice place to visit. There are comfortable couches inside the cottage and outside on the deck where you can just lounge all day long. Two fridges, shower, corner bath, nice hot water, barbecue and fire pit - what more could you want? The rock pools are just a short walk from the cottage and are great fun - especially the natural water slides! The person who gave such negative feedback is talking nonsense and should rather stay at home or go to 5 star hotels because Imithi is a great place.

Imithi is in a beautiful location. The lodgings are rustic, but cozy. I would have gone back there, if it weren't for the abhorrent treatment we received from the hostess.

Be sure not to break anything on the property, even if it is an accident. My brother-in-law tried to cook something on the gas stove with the glass plate still down and it exploded. He was cut in the leg and on the foot. He had never seen this type of stove before and there was no sign on the wall or manual in the hut as to how to operate. We had a nice enough stay, but the hostess had no sympathy for the experience we had so as long as you don't break anything, even by accident, the stay should be good.

Ons was ongelooflik teleurgesteld in hierdie plek. Oppas vir foto's, dit lyk awesome, maar is nie.

No value for money. Place falls out of each other.

We will definitely never go to this place again. For the money you pay, you get no value. The place is in a state and also unsafe. The toilet, bath and sink leak water through to the ground floor in the kitchen. The shower is clogged and leaking all over the bathroom floor. One staircase is broken that you have to climb to the top. Owners not even willing to pay us back some of the money. We were incredibly disappointed in this place. Watch out for pictures, it looks awesome but isn't.

Rustic River & Bush Getaway 's response

This review is grossly unfair and exaggerated. Compare it to reviews on other platforms from very happy clients. I rushed up after receiving this feedback, thinking that perhaps that a troupe of baboons had wrecked our place in the few hours between us doing a deep clean and their arrival. I imagined broken stairs and chewed up plumbing. There were no leaking pipes, as suggested. I did a tour with a video camera and tested all the points of complaint. Only filling the bath up to capacity and splashing huge amounts of water would cause the water to leak downstairs.
While we found a small leak on the downstairs basin, which is now fixed, we found no leaks from toilets and upstairs basin. While the shower has a slightly slower drainage it is not a blocked pipe and the water does not collect in shower.
The stair referred to as broken is solid and does not pose any danger to even a very big person, but we have reinforced that too. While we appreciate feedback, I feel this is an outright attack. Our place is arty and bohemian and designed for travellers and adventurous nature lovers who enjoy sunset views, outside braai's, hiking, swimming in rivers and a cosy indoors arrangement. It clearly does not suit conservative tastes. And why would you stay for the entire booking without letting us know that there were problems and then demand a refund after the fact?
