We enjoyed our stay and the cottage catered to all our needs.

It was wonderful. The views from the cottage were breathtaking and we will definitely come back again.

You know how some families have a holiday spot they return to again and again? Loeries Cottage will be that for us; the happy place we come to again and again.

Priceless beauty and peaceful home for a relaxing break.

Our stay at Loerie Cottage was once again absolutely amazing. The 3 bedroom family home has all you need for a comfortable stay, including a gas stove oven, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, bath & shower, and washing machine. The house was lovely and clean with bedding & towels provided, as well as some basic kitchen spices and detergents and enough kitchenware for all our requirements. The view is priceless! With the most amazing sunset view towards Gericke's Point! Hearing the fish splashing (spawning) with the incoming tides in the lagoon makes for some entertaining memories too! The bird life at the house is absolutely amazing (see list below), especially the Drongos coming for their daily cheese snacks by hand feeding! Putting out cheese, seeds, bread, and fruit, we were spoilt with a wide variety of birds, cute mice, and bats in the evening & a fruit bat late at night! We were even blessed with a couple of Loeries spotted in the shrubs and tree at the house. Having the opportunity to stay here at Loerie Cottage has truly been a wonderful peaceful break, and we thank Bridgette and her family from the bottom of our hearts for sharing this blessing. On the property: Cape Weaver, Greater Double-Collared Sunbird, Forktail Drongo, Knysna Loerie, Cape Bulbul, Cape Wagtail, Red-Eyed Dove, Speckled Mousebird, Cape Robin-Chat, Cape White-Eye, Helmeted Guineafowl, Olive Thrush, Fiscal Flycatcher, Sombre Greenbul, Cape Batis, Common Starling, Streaky-Headed Seedeater, Olive Woodpecker, Chorister Robin-Chat, Bar-Throated Apalis, Southern Boubou, Burchell's Coucal, Laughing Dove, Southern Grey-Headed Sparrow, Terrestrial Brownbul, Collared Sunbird. (Technically the Black Sawwing because it flies over really closely to the house at frequent timings). At the lake or flying over the lake: Kelp Gull, Egyptian Goose, Reed Cormorant, African Oystercatcher, Great Cormorant, African Darter, Little Grebe, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Giant Kingfisher, Grey-Headed Gull, Water Thick-Knee.

Ongelooflike mooi uitsig, rustig en goed toegerus.

Ons was baie vriendelik ontvang, die plek was skoon en netjies, daar is alles wat mens kan nodig kry, daar het niks gekort nie. Maar die uitsig en die rustigheid is wat die beste was vir ons. Ons sal dit enige tyd aanbeveel. Ons sal weer gaan.

Ons het die paar dae vreeslik geniet.

Ons het die uitsig by Loerie Cottage vreeslik geniet en sou graag langer daar wou bly. Ongelukkig gaan die lewe aan en moes ons terugkeer huis toe en aanmeld vir werk.

Magic location overlooking the lagoon, in a very quaint old cottage.

We loved our time here. The location is ideal - beautiful views over the lagoon, and close to the beach. Very relaxing, and no need to leave the house.

Ligging is uitstekend. Die huis het alles wat 'n mens nodig het. Net nie 'n TV nie, maar ons sou dit sowieso nie gebruik het nie. Die internet werk as die krag af is, aangesien dit aan 'n UPS gekoppel is.

A home away from home, with the most amazing view!

Loerie Cottage felt like a familiar old family home, and our family was just super comfortable staying there. The view is exactly as pictured and absolutely amazing. The house was clean and neat, with all the basic requirements including WiFi, gas oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, etc. Patio furniture and Weber made for lovely braais and lazing on the porch soaking up the view. Many different birds were spotted on the lagoon and in the garden, including exotic Coucal, and a family of Forktailed Drongos eagerly awaiting their daily cheese snacks by handfeeding! The yard is nice and private. We had no issues during our stay. It was absolutely amazing!

Location and views are unparalleled with a rustic 'old Sedgefield' cottage.

Location and views are unparalleled! We have stayed before and we will stay again. A few things could be improved in the cottage which would make it even better: 1) Load shedding at night causes the interior alarm monitor to beep incessantly when the electricity comes back on, waking all 3 of us up every night (you have to enter a code to make it stop). 2) The alarm went off when we were in the house and then came to check (which is good) but gave us a fright as they just appeared at a window rather than the door. We had arrived back to the cottage during load shedding and couldn't unset the alarm, so it then went off when the electricity came on, thankfully during waking hours! 3) Could really do with a sofa in the lounge and also some better garden furniture (only plastic seats available) as you spend most of your time sitting outside with the magnificent view! 4) Bathroom needs renovation to include a better shower as a minimum. Overall, lovely visit to Sedgefield and again, the views are incredible. The host was friendly and helpful on arrival and departure, and we will visit again. Just that the cottage, although well stocked, could do with some updating as above. Thank you.

The house has wonderful views of the Sedgefield river. It was great fun to watch the locals out fishing as the mouth was opened during my stay. The bird life around the property was amazing and many larger species in the river can be seen from the veranda. The house is reasonably big and could easily accommodate a family with children. It is well positioned for access to the river and mouth. The house is equipped to handle load shedding with a sizeable gas stove and LED lights. The house is one of the original Sedgefield properties and well maintained. Patrick (the property caretaker) was very helpful in sorting out any small issues and showing me how things worked.

Perfect location and comfortable, old-fashioned cottage charm.

Loerie Cottage was a wonderful find and we'll definitely book again. Perfect location with wonderful sunset and lagoon mouth views. An older cottage with the charm of one of the original Sedgefield cottages; we enjoyed our stay and the 'old-fashioned-ness' of the cottage - the kitchen and bathroom could do with updating but were perfectly adequate for our needs for the week. Wifi worked well and we found the rooms, with their high ceilings and space, comfortable. Best place was sitting outside in the evening watching the sun go down! If there was anything I would suggest, it would be a sofa for the lounge, and/or a comfortable bench or lounger for the stoep. That being said, we loved it and will be back!

Comfortable, great view.

Amazing view. Great location. Could recommend moving the fireplace to the front or put a mobile weber out front. Will definitely stay there again.

Loerie Cottage het 'n wonderlike uitsig oor die lagoon met 'n rustige stoep en voëlryke tuin. Die huis was soos 'n tweede tuiste.

Alle kombuisgoedere wat benodig word, is daar. Patric en Mercia wat op die perseel woon het goed na ons omgesien.

We found Loerie Cottage delightful and clean. It is a bit rustic, but entirely suitable for guests who want a total break from the rat race. Lovely view, beautiful birds and totally peaceful.

We missed having WiFi but that is an invidual choice. Staff very helpful. Could do with a comfortable couch in the lounge.

Lekker, mooi en rustig.

Loerie Cottage het alles wat nodig is. Gee die gevoel van 'n ou plaashuis, met 'n mooi tuin en afgegrens van bure. Jy kan lekker op die groot stoep sit, die sang van bedrywige voëltjies met 'n pragtige uitsig geniet. Binne loopafstand van strand, waar jy 'n keuse het om in see te swem of in die vlei.

We spent five days at Loerie Cottage over Christmas.

Loerie Cottage is a real gem. It's clearly a much loved and well-used old family cottage, perfect for a family to relax into. It has really fabulous views; including a deep wrap-around stoep on which we spent many a sunset, with a nice strip of lawn and lots of space. Beds are comfy and the kitchen is superbly equipped with everything you could even think of needing. Let's keep it a secret.

Lovely special place.

What a lovely place in the heart of Sedgefield. Very private with all that you need to relax and have a good holiday. Staff are friendly and very helpful. We will surely come back!
