Please note, there is a gravel road leading to the accommodation. Guests are required to enquire about the condition of the road, before arrival, as it could be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Guests are advised to not travel without any cash, as they may need to refuel at a garage which does not have a facility to process Petro Cards.
Try to avoid travelling after dark, many animals and pedestrians on the roads as well as fog especially on the roads around Lusikisiki, Flagstaff, Bizana.
Make use of bathroom facilities at recognised places such as the Ultra City in Mthatha, Kokstad or Port Edward when coming from Durban.
Mbotyi is a wilderness area, there are no restaurants, shoppping malls, banks or any facilities you would expect to find in a village.
The small convenience shop at the lodge tries to stock basics but you may wish to bring your own such as a very good sunblock, and insect repellent suitable for small ticks.
A fishing license is required for fishing in the area, and a license is needed for oysters and crayfish.
Crayfish season is closed between 1 November until the end of February; it is illegal to purchase or take out crayfish during this time.
